I realized that I was posting a crap load on the Olympics so I decided to just make a whole blog dedicated to them. I don't take any credit for the pictures or gifs unless I tag it as such. Feel free to submit and ask any questions!

The Telegraph reports on love triangles in the Olympic sailing world!

British Olympic medallist Nick Dempsey has split with his sailor wife, who sacrificed her sporting dreams for him, in favour of the woman who replaced her in Team GB.

Mr Dempsey, 32, a windsurfer, is understood to be dating Hannah Mills, months after splitting from his wife Sarah Ayton, 33.

He moved out of the family home weeks after winning a silver medal at London 2012, and he has been seen in restaurants and bars with 25-year-old Cardiff-born Miss Mills.

Miss Mills also won silver with her teammate Saskia Clark at London 2012 in the 470 class – the yachting event Miss Ayton had been due to compete in.

Miss Ayton was one of the ‘Three Blondes in a Boat’ who won gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the Daily Mail reported.

She had also won gold at Athens in 2004 and would have had the chance in London to become the first British woman to win three consecutive Olympic golds if she had not decided to stop her training in favour of “supporting Nick”.
…
She finished her training a year before the games to help her husband, who was desperate to improve on the bronze he secured in Athens, and to look after the couple’s two young sons.
…
After winning his silver last August, Mr Dempsey said of his wife: “She basically let me go and fully concentrate on trying to win and she looked after everything else in life.
“She has been absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have done it without her. There is no doubt in my mind she would have won here. She sacrificed a medal.”

The Vancouver branding is underrated, I think. At the time I judged it less memorable than Beijing, but it’s aged better (so far, at least).
Once Every Four Years is Not Enough: Wrestling, baseball/softball, and squash have Olympic hopes for 2020

olympics365:

Today the IOC voted on a shortlist of sports to include in the 2020 Olympic Games. From Philip Hersh:

Wrestling got a reprieve.

Baseball and softball are getting another chance.

And squash also is in play.

That was the outcome of Wednesday’s decision by the International Olympic…
